
Besides founder, one can also list national and international lecturer, researcher, educator and author next to Dr. John R. Milbrath’s name. Born in Milwaukee, he did his undergraduate study at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, before earning his M.D. from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison. His post graduate training occurred at the Medical College of Virginia while serving in the United States Naval Reserve. He returned home to Wisconsin to receive his Medical License and become Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology.
Before opening the Breast Diagnostic Clinic, Dr. Milbrath served in various professional positions, including Staff Radiologist at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital; Director of the Breast Cancer Detection Center at the Milwaukee County Medical Complex; and Associate Professor of Radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Over his illustrious career, Dr. Milbrath has held many prestigious professional memberships, served on numerous Task Forces and Advisory Groups, and written nearly 40 articles, abstracts and books on the subject of breast cancer screening and diagnosis. He has also conducted almost 200 presentations on the topic as well. In addition, half a dozen grants have been awarded to Dr. Milbrath for further study and research.
Dr. Milbrath has reached out civically too. He has won over a dozen civic awards, including being honored with a “Dr. John R. Milbrath Day” as proclaimed by the Mayor of Milwaukee. For 28 years, he also served in various capacities on behalf of the American Cancer Society/Milwaukee Division.
Quite simply, this is a man who has dedicated his life to making the lives of others better and healthier.
